HOW TO STORE YOUR WINE

As you might get to know Jane a little, she loves sharing tips and tricks. So let's dive into how to store your precious wine collection properly. Your precious babies need some TLC so here’s how you keep them happy;

1. Keep it horizontal:
Did you know that wines love to take a nap? Storing your wine bottles horizontally ensures that the cork stays moist, preventing it from drying out. This helps maintain a tight seal and prevents oxidation. So, let your wines lie down and relax a little.

2. Embrace the dark side:
Light can be a wine's enemy, causing it to develop unpleasant aromas and flavors. To protect your wines, find them a cozy spot away from direct sunlight and strong artificial lighting. Darkness is their best friend when it comes to aging gracefully.

3. Chill in style:
Wines prefer a cool, consistent temperature for optimal aging. Aim for a storage environment with a temperature range of about 12-15°C (54-59°F). Avoid extreme temperature fluctuations that can spoil the delicate flavors. Keep it cool, but not freezing cold!

4. Serenity now:
Vibrations can disturb the sediments in the bottle and disrupt the aging process. So, find a peaceful place for your wines away from generators or any vibrating contraptions. Let them rest undisturbed and soak up the tranquility.

5. Humidity matters:
Wine appreciates a little moisture in the air. For the wine enthusiasts out there, maintaining a humidity level around 75% is ideal. If it gets too dry (below 60%), place a tray of water in the storage area to increase humidity. But beware of excessive moisture, as it can lead to unwanted mold on the cork. Strike the right balance.

6. Fresh air, please:
A gentle breeze goes a long way in maintaining a pleasant storage environment. Adequate ventilation helps keep musty odors at bay. Also, make sure your wines aren't neighbors with pungent items like paint cans or aromatic foods like garlic and onions. Nobody wants their wine to smell like an Italian kitchen ;-)

By following these tips, you'll become a master of wine storage, ensuring that your collection ages gracefully and delights your palate when the time comes to uncork those bottles. Remember, treating your wines right is like giving them a VIP experience, and they'll reward you with exquisite flavors and aromas. Cheers to happy wine storing.
